2:30 p.m. Pinocchio musical readings start
@ DoSeum
CASA proudly presents "Made in SA X," the tenth edition of concerts of new compositions by area composers written specifically for young listeners. This year it will be a musical story reading of "Pinocchio" with new music by CASA members.
Address: 2800 Broadway, San Antonio, TX 78209
Concert free & Open to the Public (does not include museum admission). Donations accepted.
“Instrument Petting Zoo”: 2:00–5:00 p.m. – Visit tables throughout the DoSeum where patrons can learn about instruments and get a special instrument stamp, featuring bassoon, cello, clarinet, euphonium, flute, tuba, and violin
Pinocchio: 2:30-4:30 p.m., The classic story Pinocchio, read by Jonathan Albor, David Armstrong, Zachary Corona, and Andrea “Vocab” Sanderson, with new musical interludes by members of the Composers Alliance of San Antonio, performed by San Antonio musicians.
The first eight chapters of Collodi’s classic Pinocchio will be read, two at a time, with each paired chapter reading starting at 2:30, 3:00, 3:30, and 4:00. Each reading will include three or four short illustrative pieces of music for solo instruments, and each will last about 20 minutes, so that patrons can stay for one or all four (with breaks!).
The DoSeum is much more than a children’s museum: it’s a place where interactive fun and hands-on learning come together—a place where minds are always at play. The DoSeum offers exhibits, programs, camps, classes, and field trips designed for all learners, encouraging young minds to explore the joy of learning through connections to STEM, the arts, and literacy.
This will be the second year that the DoSeum hosts the Made in SA series, which will also feature informational music and instrument tables for attendees to explore after the concert.
